The 1980s never seem that far away, but if we’re being honest, 1989 was 36 years ago! That’s over three decades and more than enough time to make any pieces from then officially vintage. The two brooches pictured above are just a couple examples of unique fashion and jewelry to come out of the 80s.
The Jonette Jewelry Company made a lot of great compelling jewelry including many cool brooches and were well-known for their use of pewter like the ones pictured above from our shop. The company was started in 1935 and ended in 2006 which means that literally everything produced– save for what was made in 2006 itself– is now considered vintage. If you find any Jonette Jewelry, or JJ as it was marked starting around the 70s, you don’t have to do much research to know that you are for sure buying vintage. Though, beware as the company had a few other names before it was rebranded as the Jonette Jewelry Company, like Lisker & Lisker and its first title, The Providence Jewelry Company.
There are a ton of fun and adorable animal pieces made by this company (especially cat ones) so we highly recommend looking them up and letting us know what your favorite pieces you found are. Happy hunting!
